Totals cover beds and accommodation tax, food, the vehicle with insurance, fuel and road tax. They exclude flights and paid activities. July beds come from a census of the matching July 2027 nights. In October, hostel nights on the route are priced as half a guesthouse double — we found almost no refundable dorm beds outside Reykjavík; in July there are some, and they are priced as found.
On the guesthouse week in October, accommodation is 191,100 ISK (54%), food 89,600 (25%), the car 52,500 (15%) and fuel with road tax 19,717 (6%). Beds and meals decide an Icelandic budget; attractions rarely do.
