Is the Blue Lagoon worth it?
It depends what you want from it. The Blue Lagoon is an experience; a local pool gives you hot water and hot pots for about an eighth of the price.

Lagoon prices are "from" prices and rise at busy times. Reykjavík pools charge 860 to rent a towel and 1,270 for a swimsuit; children under 10 go free with an adult.
Choosing
- Blue Lagoon sits near the airport road, so it fits an arrival or departure day. Volcanic activity on the Reykjanes peninsula can close it at short notice — check the day before.
- Sky Lagoon is in Kópavogur, about 15 minutes' drive from central Reykjavík, with a bathing ritual included. It now costs more than the Blue Lagoon.
- Municipal pools are where Icelanders go: hot pots, steam rooms and locals. Laugardalslaug is the largest in Reykjavík, and almost every town has one. Shower without your swimsuit before getting in — it is required.
For two people, the Blue Lagoon is about 23,980 ISK against 3,000 for a pool. Different experiences, not substitutes — choose deliberately.
