Each total also includes road tax of 15,500 ISK, the same for every style. You sleep somewhere new along the way; flights and paid activities are not included. The loop is 1,356 km from Keflavík airport and back Verified, about 136 km a day. Beds along the way are priced at our route average, measured on the South Coast; the north and east were not in our census, so treat those nights as Derived.
On the guesthouse trip in October, accommodation is 53% of the total, food 25%, the car 14% and fuel with road tax 8% (41,413 ISK). The driving is the cheap part of the Ring Road; the nights are not.
Petrol is 273 ISK a litre, the median of 70 stations Live quote. Rental firms pass on the state road tax either per kilometre or as a daily fee. At about 136 km a day you drive under the 200 km a day where the two cost the same, so a firm that charges per kilometre usually works out cheaper on this route — road tax explained.
